Ingenious ICT Award Winners

The Academy Awards of the Information and Communication Technology  Industry were just announced by ITAC ( Information Technology Association Ingenious of Canada). https://itac.ca/blog/21-finalists-vying-for-2015-ingenious-awards/.  Ingenious Awards celebrate the use of technology to improve the performance of large and small businesses, large and small government operations and not-for- profit organizations.

Fifty-seven nominations were scrutinized by judges from the CIO Association of Canada ( Chief Information Officers Association of Canada) who looked for clear demonstrations of significant achievement and innovation related to the use of information and communications technology (ICT) to address opportunities and challenges.

Like its larger brother based in Hollywood, ITAC’s award categories, in Bold script below,  span the breadth of Canadian Industry.   It is an exhilarating experience to see the bandwidth of Canadian creativity.  I have added a few explanatory notes where I thought necessary to describe the industrial concern or clarify the information provided.  Winners in each category have been highlighted in yellow.

There are several reasons I am so excited about these awards.  Firstly two of Jolera’s partners are heavily involved in the award program and are major sponsors of the events.  These are  Dell, a founding sponsor, https://www.dell.com/en-ca/, and Softchoice https://www.softchoice.com/.  Secondly, Jolera has worked closely with its many partners including, Dell and Softchoice,  to bring innovative IT solutions to Canadian industry.   Thirdly, Jolera has itself been recognized for its innovative software solutions by the Computer Dealers Network  https://www.computerdealernews.com/video/solution-provider-of-the-year-at-cdn-channel-elite-awards-2015-2.    Like the Academy Award winners, we sincerely feel that being able to stand in the company of IT  industry leaders like Dell, Softchoice, Intel, HP, and Xerox and all the award winners is a reward in itself.

The diversity of the solutions and the associated economics are just astounding.  The Ministry of Transportation of Ontario is claiming savings of 1540 hours of staff time and 15,000 sheets of paper annually.    https://ingeniousawards.ca/nominees/2015-winners/system-drives-efficiencies-for-contractors-curbs-gridlock-agony/ .   The Panorama Immunization System helps keep track of 83 million immunization records in Ontario. https://ingeniousawards.ca/nominees/2015-winners/public-health-officials-get-a-better-shot-at-tracking-immunizations/  .   The Kinduct Technology Solution is used by teams in the NBA, NHL, MLB, and NFL.  https://ingeniousawards.ca/nominees/2015-winners/software-refines-science-of-bringing-athletes-to-the-winners-circle/

A more complete discussion of each winner’s innovative solution can be found at https://ingeniousawards.ca/nominees/2015-winners/ .

The range of solutions is only limited by the range of creativity brought to the task.  Solutions employ cloud technology , gps technology,  sophisticated camera systems,  mobile apps,  on-board vehicle technology and the list goes on.   While Jolera cannot claim to have expertise in all these systems, we know the experts and have worked with all of them before on successful implementation projects.
