Active Directory User Provisioning

Many applications today are integrating their authentication requirements with Microsoft's active directory. Active directory stores users logins, passwords, security groups, distribution groups, email address, and other related information. The provisioning of a new user in active directory is for the most part a manual process that must be administered by an IT professional with the necessary security privileges.

Plenty of Jolera's customers are looking for a way to extend their SharePoint portals to the internet - creating an authenticated extranet site. To take full advantage of Microsoft's SharePoint technology it is best to use active directory accounts. Working closely with our customers Jolera developed a web enabled tool that would anonymously collect user information and submit the request to a workflow that creates an active directory account, assigning proper permissions, and sending an email introduction.

To reduce administrative and helpdesk support calls Jolera designed the (UP Tool) to be self service allowing users to create and store security questions, to reset passwords, and unlock accounts.

Key features of the tool:

  • Web enabled
  • Multi-language support
  • Secure and encrypted
  • Low server overhead
  • Can inherit corporate policy
  • Can create accounts in other platforms
  • Reduces helpdesk tickets

The popularity of Jolera's user provisioning tool is growing and now customers are beginning to extend its capabilities by replacing a very manual HR and IT process - saving organizations hundreds of man hours.
