Remote Access Solutions

Quick Links

Remote access systems are all about making your data more available. Ensuring safety and security for your data is often the highest priority, but that should not undermine the importance of being able to access your data from anywhere in the world at anytime.

The most secure data in the world is useless if you can’t access it as you step into a boardroom halfway around the world. This is where the many possible remote access systems show their importance. Free yourself from the office, and take your business anywhere you go! That is the power the remote access systems we provide can offer.

VPN Solutions

There are two types of VPN (virtual private network) connections: remote access connections and router to router connections.

A remote access VPN connection is made by a remote access client or a single user computer that connects to a private network. The VPN server provides access to the resources of the VPN server or to the entire network to which the VPN server is attached. The packets sent across the VPN connection originate at the remote access client. The remote access client (the VPN client) authenticates itself to the remote access server (the VPN server) or vice-versa in the case of mutual authentication.

In router to router connections, the VPN connection is made by a router and connects two portions of a private network. The VPN server provides a routed connection to the network to which the VPN server is attached. On a router to router VPN connection, the packets sent from either router across the VPN connection typically do not originate in the routers. The calling router (the VPN client) authenticates itself to the answering router (the VPN server) and, for mutual authentication; the answering router authenticates itself to the calling router.

RPC over HTTP

Microsoft Windows RPC (remote procedure call) over HTTP (hyper text transfer protocol) enables your users to connect to their Exchange mailbox without having to create a virtual private network connection to connect with their exchange server. Users who are running Outlook 2003 on client computers can connect directly to an Exchange server in a corporate environment from their home or field office. This can be a great advantage to users who do not have the technical skills to create VPNs, thus freeing up valuable network administrator’s time.

Web mail

Outlook Web Access™ is and an excellent way for outlook clients to access their email anywhere in the world through an internet browser. As long as your enterprise is running Exchange™ 5.5 or greater, your users will have the full functionality of their email, calendar, contacts and everything else that outlook provides, all in a user-friendly web interface.

All that is required is a published record such as mail.yourcompany.com/exchange on your IIS (internet information services) server and then a user may type that into the address bar of any internet browser. The user is then prompted for their network login and password and is able to access email anywhere they have access to the internet. This is an incredible asset when other options, like virtual private network connections, or RPC over HTTP options are not available for accessing email such as when in an internet cafe.

Wireless PDA

In the fast-paced world of instant communications, wireless PDA’s (personal digital assistant) are quickly becoming indispensable. While there are other solutions, none have been able to match the Blackberry. These devices have integrated the technology of cell phone, internet access and the ability to instantly synchronize with all of the functionality offered by Exchange. As far as area coverage, RIM (Research In Motion, the makers of Blackberry) have got you covered in over 40 countries. All of these amazing features, coupled with an incredibly easy-to-use interface makes the Blackberry the only real choice when it comes to wireless PDA’s.
